Deutsche Post DHL continues to rely on T-Systems. The leading shipping and logistics company worldwide extends and expands ICT outsourcing contracts until late 2014.
The previous contract consisted of computing and desktop services as well as infrastructure and network services. Deutsche Post DHL has now decided to extend the contract by an additional five years and moreover required further services. T-Systems will be responsible for managing the entire process chains between DHL and its customers and for the operation of 65 applications as managed application services. Furthermore, T-Systems will take over data center services from other providers. Around 100 Deutsche Post DHL employees will transfer to T-Systems on April 1, 2010. The contract, with a volume totaling nine figures, is part of a global Deutsche Post DHL initiative to increase IT and telecommunications efficiency.
Significant cost savings
"This is an important step toward optimizing our IT infrastructure in Germany and will have a positive effect on our business customers," said Johannes Helbig, CIO at the Deutsche Post DHL corporate area BRIEF. The current agreement with T-Systems is targeted toward saving almost 400 million euros in the next five years. T-Systems has entered into a wide variety of contracts with the shipping and logistics company. Just recently, the ICT service provider agreed to take over and operate a Deutsche Post DHL data center in Scottsdale, Arizona.
